To see and do: Full details of the event are still to be confirmed. The event will be opened on the Saturday by Pete Waterman and there will be unveiling and rededication of the Wolverton 'Bloomer.' Tickets can be purchased on-line here and postal ticket applications can also be made via the main website.
On the Saturday, UK Railtours are providing two tours - 'The White Elephant' from Northampton and Wolverton which will operate via the Bletchley flyover and to Bedford. The train will be 'top and tailed' by Class 66s. Full details on the UK Railtours website.
On both days, there will be special shuttles in operation from Milton Keynes Central into Wolverton Works. These are expected to be 'top and tailed' by Class 33s and will be the first passenger carrying trains to run into the Works since May 1993. The train will run to the western most extremity of the Works and will be powered by the resident Class 08s from Haversham Bank. Full details on the Open Day website including on-line booking.
Getting there: Wolverton is on the West Coast Main Line, situated between Milton Keynes Central and Northampton and is served by London Midland. The Works are a short walk from the station. Milton Keynes has a good network of local bus services provided by Arriva. Coach services stop at Milton Keynes Coachway - connecting bus or taxi required to Wolverton.
There is no parking on site but there will be free parking at Radcliffe School a 10-minute walk to the Works or via a shuttle bus. There will also be a shuttle bus from the Works site to Milton Keynes Museum, which features a restored Stony Stratford tramcar.
Long Marston Open Day

To see and do: There is a large amount of withdrawn and stored stock kept at Long Marston representing many of the main classes of diesel and electric locomotives as well as coaching stock. A free bus will be run inside the depot providing a good way of getting round to see everything. The Motorail website mentions that they hope to open up the storage lines and provide better photo opportunities. Getting there: There will be no shuttle bus from local stations provided this time so access by taxi from nearest station or by car. Full directions by car to the site are available on the Motorail website.
